September through May
Sunday worship at Nativity begins with an 8:00 am spoken
liturgy of Holy Communion with Scripture readings, message, and hymns from our
Evangelical Lutheran Worship, With One Voice and LBW hymnals. This 45 minute
service is followed by a brief time of coffee fellowship, leading up to Adult
Education at 9:00 am.
The 10:30 am worship service might best be called a “modern/traditional fusion”
of classic Lutheran liturgical language sung in several musical formats or
settings of the Eucharist. The Word of Scripture, Let The Children Come (and
concurrent Kids’ Church), the spoken message, and musical leadership by the
adult choir round out this lively service, which concludes with coffee and tea
fellowship at 11:30 am.
June through August
In the summer months (mid-June
through Labor Day), three worship opportunities are offered each week, with
times and locations changing slightly in response to our active Northwest
outdoor lifestyle.
This year, beginning June 4, we add a Wednesday night worship service each week
at 7 pm. This service will be about 35 minutes in length and very informal in
nature, but still liturgical in the manner of a Vespers or Compline service.
Holy Communion will be offered, as well as a brief meditation on one of the
Scripture readings for the week.
On Sunday mornings, the 8 am service moves to our beautiful Outdoor Sanctuary
(below the parking lot) every week. The service format is informal, with Holy
Communion each Sunday and a mixture of contemporary faith songs and traditional
hymns sung. In case of rain we do move indoors, but we always hope for good
weather and we’re usually not disappointed.
Sunday Fellowship is offered between services, outside on the rear patio at 9
am. Stay after or come early for the second service and join in the food, coffee
and visiting with one another.
9:30 am Sundays is the time for the indoor Eucharist, a more informal spoken
worship setting than during the rest of the year.
